The PPMS (Physical Property Measurement System) - 14T is an automated system for measuring the physical properties of materials. In particular, it allows for the measurement of thermal, electrical, and magnetic properties:
- Electrical resistivity
- Hall effect
- Magnetoresistance
- Specific heat
- Magnetization
The PPMS - 14T is equipped with a liquid helium cryostat, enabling measurements in the temperature range of 2K to 400K. Inside, it houses a superconducting magnet capable of applying an external magnetic field of up to (+/-)14T.
The system also uses a dilution refrigerator, which allows for electrical and thermal property measurements in the 50 mK – 4 K range.
